Firefighters have gained control of a fire at a heritage house on Rennie’s Mill Road in St. John’s. The fire broke out just after 3:00 this afternoon, as repair work was being done to the structure’s roof. Superintendent Don Byrne says there was one man home at the time, who got out safely. About 17 fire fighters from two separate stations responded to the blaze, and the RNC had to be called in for crowd control.
