September 21, 2104 — Under a bright blue September sky, thousands of friends, family members, comrades and local spectators gathered at Memorial Park in Colorado Springs, Colorado, to pay solemn tribute to the IAFF members who gave their lives in service to their communities.
More than 5,000 people, many arriving from across the United States and Canada, packed in and around the IAFF Fallen Fire Fighter Memorial to observe the annual ceremony conducted by the IAFF to honor the 168 fire fighters/paramedics who died in the last year or succumbed to illnesses linked to the profession.
